Your biggest summer hair problems solved!

Sun, salt water and humidity can wreak havoc on your hair —luckily, we’ve got simple tricks that will keep your hair soft, shiny and stunning all summer long!

Refresh your hair with dry shampoo!

Heat prompts your body to produce excess oil that can make your scalp look greasy. Dry shampoo can help— and the trick is in how you use it! “After spraying your roots, let it sit for five minutes before massaging it in,” says cosmetic chemist Mabel Covey, of Chemistry Uniquely Expressed hair care. “This allows the powder to better absorb oil and refresh your hair.” Tip: Worried about white powder dulling dark roots? Try a tinted dry shampoo! ✤ Try it! Batiste Hint of Color Dry Shampoo, $8.99 at Target.

Protect colored hair with a deep-conditioning treatment!

Have color-treated hair? Sun, sea salt and chlorine break down your hair’s cuticle, the protective barrier that locks in color. The good news: You can keep your color vibrant with a weekly oil-infused deep conditioner! “Look for products with safflower oil or grapeseed oil, which are rich in linoleic acid, a moisturizer that protects hair from drying out and losing its vibrancy,” suggests cosmetic chemist Aimee Sowu. ✤ Try it! Fekkai Technician Color Care Luxe Color Masque, $24.99 at Target.com.

Prevent flat hair with anti-humidity spray!

Excess moisture in the air can weigh down fine or straight hair, sapping volume fast. The easiest fix: Spritzing on anti-humidity hairspray before heading out! “The newest formulas don’t contain water— the main culprit of flat hair,” explains Covey. “Instead, they’re made with polymers or silicones to create a humidity-proof seal over the hair shaft so hair stays full and bouncy.” ✤ Try it! Suave Luxe Style Infusion Anti-humidity Hairspray, $4.99 at Walmart.

Nix frizz with a rosewater mist!

Stop frizz before it starts with a rosewater mist! Rosewater is known for its ability to hydrate parched hair, which prevents your hair from pulling in excess moisture from humid air. Aloe vera soothes your scalp, while non-greasy jojoba oil adds elasticity and shine to hair follicles for soft, smooth and sleek hair all day long! ✤ DIY it! Add 4 oz. rosewater, 2 oz. pure aloe vera gel and 1/2 oz. jojoba oil to mister bottle. Shake well, then mist over damp or dry hair before leaving the house on humid days.

Add shine with a protective gloss!

Hair looking lackluster? Smooth on a shine-infusing gloss! “Clear, semipermanent glosses seal and fill in hair cuticles that have been roughed up or damaged by UV rays, salt water or chlorine,” explains Sowu. “Not only do they instantly restore shine, but when used every two to three weeks, they create a protective barrier to keep your hair ultra soft and smooth!” ✤ Try it! John Frieda Luminous Glaze Clear Shine Gloss, $9.99 at Ulta.
