“A stranger made my birthday so memorable!” I spent my 90th birthday at a lovely restaurant with my family. After the meal, we lined up to order their homemade ice cream. My daughter was reading the menu and said, “Look, Mom, birthday cake ice cream just for your 90th!” The man in front of us turned around. “Congratulations!” he said. “My father turned 93 on Wednesday.” We wished his father a happy birthday, then enjoyed our ice cream. When we asked our waitress for the bill later, she said the man paid for our meal! We were amazed! A stranger made my birthday so memorable! —Lola Sneyd, Toronto

“I was in the right place at the right time!” I was shopping in Walmart when I stepped on something. I looked down and saw it was a wallet. I picked it up and found that it was stuffed with credit cards and cash! It also had a dental hygienist ID card with a photo. I walked through the store, looking for the woman in the photo, and finally found her near the checkout lines. She was looking around frantically, so I asked her if she lost something. “I’m going crazy! I can’t seem to find my wallet,” she exclaimed. I handed it to her, and she said, “Thank you so much! “My neighbors took care of my yard work!” I needed surgery and had to stay in the hospital for two weeks. I enjoy gardening and was a little concerned about the weeds that would surely await me when I got home. But I needn’t have worried! I was surprised to come home to a freshly cut lawn and a weed-free garden! My neighbors had taken care of the yard work while I was in the hospital, and then brought me a tasty casserole for dinner!
