-

WHAT YOU’LL NEED ❑ White flip-flops ❑ 7 yds. (1/2") white double-sided satin ribbon Beacon 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue About 200 craft pearls in a variety of sizes and colors, including some freshwater shapes, the largest 10 mm Straight pin Silver seed beads size 6/0

1Apply a small dot of glue to the bottom of one of the flip-flop’s straps. Press the end of the ribbon into the glue; hold briefly then wrap the ribbon around the strap, overlapping slightly, adding dots of glue as you go. Once at the top, wrap the ribbon around the toe piece and continue wrapping down the other strap. Cut and glue at the end.

2Lay

ribbon across the top toe area and glue the left end under the strap. Run the ribbon across and under the right strap then over and under the left strap. Continue weaving, adding dots of glue to the straps. Don’t pull too tightly. Finished weaving should extend about 3" back from the toe. Add dots of glue where needed to keep the ribbon flat. Before finishing, try on the flip-flop to make sure the ribbon hasn’t been pulled too tightly.

3Squeeze a large dot of glue on top of the ribbon at the toe and press the largest pearl into it, using a straight pin to turn the pearl so the hole won’t show. Continue gluing pearls until the ribbon is covered, varying sizes and colors. Use the silver seed beads to fill small spaces. Glue a few pearls an inch or so down the straps.
