My Guardian Angel

When Woman’s World reader, Pamela Gomer, of Edwardsville, Kansas, suffered a life-threatening health crisis, an angel came to her rescue . . . with a glass of orange juice! She writes:

Iwas visiting my son in Seattle, and we decided to go out to lunch. I am diabetic and need to eat regularly to maintain my blood- sugar level. I’d only had a slice of dry toast and coffee for breakfast early that morning and as we waited on line to be seated, I began to feel dizzy.

I had no sooner told my son when, suddenly, I fell to the floor.

“My mom is diabetic and needs sugar as fast as possible!” my son shouted, knowing if I didn’t get my blood- sugar level up right away I could slip into a coma.

Within seconds, a young lady appeared with a glass of orange juice and knelt at my side, patiently offering me little sips until I fi nished the entire glass. Within minutes, my son was helping me back to my feet.

I couldn’t help feeling embarrassed by all of the attention and hurried into the ladies’ room to compose myself.

“Her clear blue eyes were filled with kindness, and I felt such a peace wash over me,” Pamela marvels

The young woman insisted upon going with me. As I thanked her for all her help, I noticed her clear blue eyes were fi lled with kindness, and I felt a peace wash over me as she urged me to be very careful in the future and to keep a snack in my purse for emergencies. I promised I would, and walked over to the vanity to brush my hair. When I turned to thank her once more, she was gone!

Shocked, I rushed out of the ladies’ room and asked my son if he had seen the woman who had brought me the orange juice. He shook his head, insisting that no one had exited the ladies room.

As we were seated for lunch, I asked the manager about the nice young woman who had brought me the orange juice. But he said there was no one fitting that description who worked there, and because the café served lunch and dinner only, they did not offer orange juice on their menu!

Suddenly, my son and I both realized that the young woman was an angel. I’d heard stories of angelic intervention, but never did I think it could happen to me. I could have died had it not been for my orange juice angel!

Since that time, I have been very careful to never go anywhere without a snack that will raise my blood sugar in an emergency. And I think of that woman often and fondly, for I know in my heart that she is still watching over me.

“Our guardian angels can take on temporary human form during an urgent situation, such as Pamela’s,” says Doreen Virtue, PH.D. “Angels can even be accompanied by real physical objects, like Pamela’s orange juice.

“When an angel appears in human form, there’s something otherworldly and different about them, such as their unusual eyes, and everyone who meets an angel in disguise says that they feel very calm in their presence.

“Another sign that Pamela really did meet an angel is how the woman appeared and disappeared without a trace, and the fact that no one in the restaurant had heard of her.

“Angels watch over us every moment of every day and can miraculously help us when we are in danger. I’m so happy that Pamela is listening to the well-intentioned guidance that she received from her angel, and is now taking better care of herself.

“The angels say: ‘Our love for you is unlimited and so are our abilities to help you!’ ”

I was having a terrible day.

First, I accidentally touched my hot flat iron and burned my hand. Then I locked my keys in the car, and when I finally got to work, realized that I’d left the lunch I’d packed at home. When my work buddy asked later how my day was going, I launched into my tale of woe. “Everybody has bad days once in a while, but thankfully, the smallest thing can change the worst day around in an instant,” she said. She’s right, I thought, and thanked her for reminding me that I have a lot to be grateful for. When I returned to my desk after lunch, I found my favorite Starbucks drink waiting for me! “How did you know this was just what I needed?” I asked my friend. “Sometimes friends just know how to brighten your day!” she said. And suddenly, my day was a lot better!
