One of the most endearing cartoon characters of all time, Donald Duck received his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2004. Created and praised by Walt Disney as “one of the studio’s greatest satisfactions,” Donald Duck is so special, he is the only major Disney character with an official middle name— Fauntleroy!

The world’s first theme park— Santa Claus Land— opened in Santa Claus, Indiana, in 1946. After starting off solely as a Christmasthemed amusement park, it rebranded itself as “Holiday World,” and now includes Thanksgiving-, Halloween- and Fourth of Julythemed attractions, as well as two of the longest water roller coasters in the world!

Pop artist Andy Warhol was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1928. Originally a magazine and ad illustrator, his talent for turning the ordinary into the extraordinary catapulted him into the upper echelon of the art world, where, in 2013, his “Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster)” became the second most expensive piece of art ever auctioned. The winning bid? $105.4 million!

One of the most recognizable dance songs of all time, the “Macarena” hit the top of the pop charts in 1996. Originally created by two Spaniards under the name Los del Rio, the song became a worldwide craze and spent a total of 60 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100— that’s more than any other song in history!

The animated cartoon character Betty Boop made her first appearance in the short cartoon “Dizzy Dishes” in 1930. Betty started off as a caricature of Helen Kane, a famous singer and actress known as “The Boop- Oop-a-doop Girl.” As Kane’s fame lessened and Betty Boop’s grew, Kane sued the cartoon’s production company for “producing unfair competition”— a suit she lost!
