Candy Bar Sugar Cookies

Chunks of crisp chocolate- covered peanut butter candy dot these super- easy, no-roll sugar cookies! 1/2 cup shortening 1/4 cup butter, softened 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar 1 egg 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. table salt 2 (2.1 oz.) Butterfing­ers candy bars, coarsely chopped 6 Tbs. turbinado sugar

Preheat oven to 375°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Beat shortening and butter at medium speed until light and fluffy. Gradually add brown sugar, beating until smooth. Add egg and vanilla, beating until blended.

Mix flour and next 3 ingredient­s; gradually add to shortening mixture, beating just until blended. Stir in candy. Place turbinado sugar in bowl. Shape dough into 1" balls; roll each ball in sugar. Place balls 3" apart on baking sheets. Bake 9-10 minutes or until golden. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheets. Transfer to racks; cool completely, about 20 minutes. Makes 48 cookies.
