Newest ways to slash your grocery bill!

-

Want to save on food, soap, laundry detergent and other grocery items? No need to wait for sales—these easy tips can help you keep hundreds of dollars in your wallet every year!

Cash coupons—fast!

New research shows that the redemption value of coupons has climbed higher and higher, outpacing how much the cost of groceries has risen— and that means bigger savings for you at the cash register! But you need to act fast: While coupons now save you more, their redemption times are getting shorter, so keep an eye on expiration dates!

● 2 Pick up for a discount!

Studies show that Walmart has some of the lowest prices around on groceries, and now there’s another way to save at the retailer: Visit Walmart.com, search for “pickup discount” and select items you need from this section, like household cleaners or disposable plates. They’ll be shipped to your local Walmart for free where you can pick them up— and you’ll get a discount when you check out online! Why? Picking up your order cuts the store’s expenses involved with shipping to you, so Walmart passes on the savings to you!

● Get deals on “misfits”!

Meijer supermarkets recently introduced a “Misfit Produce” section that’s filled with fruit and vegetables that are imperfectly shaped or have bruises (but don’t affect the taste) for less than what you’d spend on perfect-looking produce! No Meijer near you? Ask your supermarket’s produce manager or farmers’ market vendor if they have imperfect fruits and veggies that they’ll sell at a discount. Most would rather offer them for less than toss them!

● Cut waste with meal kits!

There’s lots to love about meal kits, such as Blue Apron and Hellofresh: They offer preportioned ingredients so you avoid waste, plus they make cooking fast and easy. And now you can enjoy the convenience for a lot less! That’s because major supermarkets like Giant Food, Shop Rite, Kroger and Ralph’s have introduced their own less expensive meal kits starting at $3.50 to $5 per serving— and more grocers are soon to follow! Plus, Conagra and Campbell’s Soup are launching their own meal kits, giving you even more money-saving options!
