My Guardian Angel

When Woman’s World reader Sharon Gerger, of Waterloo, Ontario, was grieving, the angels found a way to lighten her heart. She writes:

-

My mother was a strong believer in angels and often talked about feeling their presence in her life. I, on the other hand, wasn’t so sure angels existed. But when Mom passed, I longed to know that she was still with me and found myself asking the angels for a sign.

The next couple of days were busy as I made funeral arrangements, and my request got pushed to the back of my mind.

When my aunt and uncle came from out of town to attend Mom’s funeral, I insisted they stay with me. The only unoccupied room in the house was my mother’s bedroom. I cleaned the room, and as I turned back for a final look, I noticed the bedside lamp was on.

I didn’t remember turning it on, but I switched it off. After closing the door, I couldn’t help but look back, and to my amazement, the lamp was back on! As I stood there marveling, I suddenly remembered asking the angels for a sign from Mom. And I realized this was it and that I didn’t need to be afraid.

When I went to turn off the lamp, I found myself pulling open the nightstand drawer and discovered my grandmother’s prayer book that was almost 100 years old.

Mom had told me years earlier that she wanted me to have it, but I had forgotten all about it until that moment. I knew this was her way of telling me that she wanted me to receive it now.

A few days after the funeral, I had the deepest feeling of sadness and couldn’t stop crying.

“Angels, please help me,” I sobbed.

All of a sudden, I felt compelled to go into my mother’s room. As I sat down on her bed, I felt as if I’d been enveloped in a warm hug, and I r ema i ne d still for a few minutes, feeling my mother’s love.

As I wiped the tears from my eyes, I smiled, noticing the lamp was on again. This time, I left it on. A few hours later when I returned to the room, the lamp was off.

The lamp has not come on by itself again, but if I close my eyes, I can still

feel my mom’s warm hug and know that she is still watching over me.

“How divine that the angels comforted Sharon by lighting a lamp to guide her way!” says Doreen Virtue, PH.D. “Lamps are an ancient symbol of Heavenly light.

“I love that the lamp lighting up on its own reassured Sharon and led her to find her grandmother’s beloved prayer book!

“The angels always bring reassurance and healing comfort to those who are grieving. When you pray for help, be open to noticing the creative ways that you receive signs from Heaven, and know that you’re being watched over and are loved.”

“The angels gave me a beautiful sign that Mom was still with me,” Sharon marvels
