The eighth and final Harry Potter novel,

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released in 2007, and quickly became the fastest selling book ever. In fact, it’s currently the second bestselling novel of all-time only behind Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code— the rest of author J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter novels also place in the top 10! Charles E. Menches invented the

ice- cream cone at the St. Louis World’s Fair in 1904. Legend has it that Menches, who was working as a waffle vendor, came to the rescue when an ice-cream vendor ran out of cups, so he rolled up his waffles to hold the frozen treat!

Actor Woody Harrelson was born in Midland, Texas, in 1961. Before catching his big break as the dimwitted yet kind-hearted bartender on Cheers, for which he won an Emmy, Harrelson worked as a woodcarver at Kings Island amusement park in Ohio!

One of the “new” Seven Wonders of the World, the awe-inspiring Incan city Machu

Picchu was discovered in Peru in 1911. The site—which stretches over five miles—features an intricate network of buildings and terraces linked by more than 3,000 steps, all built from stones fitted so closely together that no mortar was needed!

“Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor—the theme song for the blockbuster hit Rocky III— reached the top of the charts in 1982. It was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song in 1982, as well as a Grammy for Song of the Year in 1983, but lost the Oscar to “Up Where We Belong” from An Officer and a Gentleman and the Grammy to Willie Nelson’s Always on My Mind.
