WHAT YOU’LL NEED

❏ Throw pillow covered with smooth, brightly colored or patterned fabric ❏ Plain white cotton fabric slightly smaller than pillow ❏ DIY Home Monogram Stencils by Artminds® ❏ DIY Home Stencil Adhesive by Artminds ❏ DIY Home Décor Acrylic Paint in monogram color; in border color if desired ❏ Paper or foam plastic plates ❏ DIY Home stencil brush set by Artminds ❏ Aleene’s® Fabric Fusion® glue or iron-on fusing material such as Heat ’n Bond® Lite by Therm-o-web®

1 Lightly spray stencil adhesive to stick monogram letter or letters to the white fabric.

2 Pour some paint onto a paper plate. Dip brush lightly into paint and tap on newspaper to blot off excess. In an up-and-down motion, tap paint on area you’re stenciling. Repeat, building up color little by little. Remove stencil. Let dry. Repeat for more stenciled letters if desired.

3 Using shapes of pillow and monogram as a guide, cut fabric to final size and shape. Use a plate for a circle or to round off or clip corners of a rectangle. Paint the border if you like.

4 If pillow’s cover is removable, remove before working. To glue stenciled fabric, apply a stripe of glue down center of pillow cover, inside the area where stenciled piece will be placed. Place monogrammed fabric, centered, on pillow cover, aligning carefully; let dry briefly. Fold back monogrammed fabric on one side and apply a second stripe of glue next to the first; smooth fabric on it. Repeat on both sides until most monogrammed fabric has been glued. When near edges, apply glue to monogrammed fabric itself to keep glue inside area to be covered. To apply monogrammed fabric with iron-on Heat ’n Bond, follow package directions.
