Snack on berries

Enjoy 1 cup of berries daily and you could see an uptick in night vision in 48 hours, report researchers in Alternative Medicine

Review. As study co-author Masao Hirayama, PH.D., explains, berries contain a plant compound (called cyanidin-3

glucoside) that nourishes the light-sensitive rod cells in your eyes, so they can function well even in dim light. Another delicious fix: Dark chocolate! It contains compounds ( flavanols) that boost oxygen flow to eye tissues, heightening your ability to see in poor light.

Play Candy Crush

If you love playing games on your phone, here’s great news from researchers at Switzerland’s University of Geneva: Play a game like Tetris or Candy Crush regularly and your ability to read in dim light— and drive comfortably at night— could improve by 58% in two months. Lead researcher Daphne Bavelier, PH.D., says games that contain lots of action train your brain to process what you’re looking at more quickly, more efficiently and in more detail. Plus, researchers from the University of Rochester in New York say spending about four hours per week on apps that require visual-motor coordination boosts nighttime vision by 43%!

Soothe your lids

Thanks to hormone flux, 48% of women struggle with dry, itchy, irritated eyes— which doubles the risk of night vision troubles. British researchers say when the oil-producing glands in your lids get plugged, your eyes can become more sensitive to blasts of light from car headlights. Ease symptoms in a week by pressing a warm, wet washcloth over your eyelids for five minutes daily.
