Woman's World

My guardian angel

When Woman’s World reader Dianne Venetta of Leesburg, Florida, was in a horrific car accident, an angel intervened. She writes:

-

“I have no doubt that I heard the voice of an angel that day”

One morning, I was driving to work on a busy highway, when a garbage truck suddenly veered directly into my path. I tried to avoid a collision by swerving to my right, hoping to pass behind the truck. But we were just too close, and my car clipped the rear of the truck’s heavy metal frame.

“No!” I cried, as my car went careening uncontrollably off the road. And in what I thought were my final seconds on Earth, I whispered to God, “Here I come!”

As I said that, the word GOD lit up in very crisp and distinct white light in my mind’s eye.

Then I heard a female voice urgently shout, “Duck!” I instinctively did as I was told and, the next thing I knew, I heard this horrible, loud crunching sound overhead.

Finally, my car came to rest in the grassy area on the side of the highway.

The roof was smashed down into the driver’s compartment and smoke was billowing from the engine. I realized that I needed to get out and somehow managed to crawl out of my open sunroof.

As I pulled myself out of the car, paramedics arrived and I was taken to the hospital where, miraculously, doctors determined my only injury was a minor cut on my head.

Days later, I visited the junkyard where my car had been taken and gasped as I realized just how close I had come to dying. The roof was demolished and had been pushed so far down into the driver’s seat that, had I not ducked, I would have been completely crushed.

Today, 20 years later, I still shudder thinking about that day. But I know, without a doubt, that God sent an angel to instruct me to duck just in the nick of time— and it saved my life. I shall always be truly grateful.
