“I KINDNESS WAS BLOWN AND AWAY GENEROSITY!” BY HIS I was undergoing physical therapy after knee-replacement surgery. One day as I sat icing my knee at the end of a workout, the gentleman sitting next to me struck up a conversation. Turned out that he was also recovering from knee surgery. As we chatted, he asked me how often I would be coming for therapy. I told him it would be a total of five times. He was surprised, saying his doctor had prescribed more sessions. I explained it was all my bank account could afford. Imagine my shock when he then gave me $200 so I could come for the recommended number of sessions. Who does that for a stranger? I was blown away by his generosity and kindness. — Pat Rosvall, Midvale, UT “GENEROSITY CREATES FRIENDSHIPS!” It was my 10-year- old daughter’s first day of middle school. Well, when she came home that afternoon, my daughter told me that as she had taken her seat on the bus, she noticed a girl who looked lost and confused. So she moved over and asked the other girl to sit down next to her. Later at lunch, she saw the same girl in the cafeteria sitting all alone. Again, my daughter asked her to sit with her and even offered half of her lunch. I was so proud. The next day, the girl brought in two snacks to share with my daughter. It is amazing what kindness can do— in this case, it helped two little girls become friends! — Laura Huhn, Great Neck, NY “LITTLE THINGS REALLY DO MEAN A LOT!” Recently, I was in the line at a local department store when I overheard the woman behind me saying that she had cut her arm on an item in the store and didn’t have a Band-aid. I was sure I had a couple in my purse. So after paying for my merchandise, I dug one out and gave it to her. I didn’t think much of it. A Band-aid is such a small thing. But the woman was very grateful! Even the cashier thanked me. It felt good to help her out. It’s true what they say: Little things really do mean a lot! — Dianne Boivin, Oshawa, ON
