See the silver lining
“Through my dad’s whole journey with dementia, I learned that amazing things can happen through difficult circumstances,” Amy says. “It’s not the difficulty that decides the quality of your life: It’s how you respond to it. When my dad passed, I spent time just writing, crying, remembering. And suddenly, there was this clearing, a new perspective. Our response to what happens to us shapes our lives, and lately I feel happily overwhelmed and immensely grateful to have had so much time with him.”
