“Prayer al­ways helps when I’m stressed,” Amy shares. “I have a rit­ual where I stand straight with my arms out, ex­hale and say to God, ‘This is how we live,’ while I iden­tify all of my feel­ings, like ‘over­whelmed’ or ‘miss­ing our chil­dren.’ Then I take a breath and say, ‘But this is who we are: loved, loved, loved!’ Af­ter I’m fin­ished re­peat­ing ‘ loved,’ I say ‘shh’ to quiet my mind. It takes a few tries, but even­tu­ally the chat­ter in my mind gives way to beau­ti­ful mem­o­ries and so much peace.”
