“A hot but­tered rum is a per­fect win­ter drink,” says bour­bon ed­u­ca­tor Tim Knit­tel (Dis­tilled-liv­ing.com). “It warms you with a lit­tle sugar, a lit­tle fat and, of course, a lit­tle al­co­hol. Plus, it’s easy and quick to make when friends and fam­ily drop in.”

To make Knit­tel’s rich hot but­tered rum:

Add a pinch of cin­na­mon, nut­meg and clove to an empty glass and add 6 oz. boil­ing wa­ter. Mix in 41⁄ 2 tsp. brown sugar and stir to dis­solve, then add 11⁄ oz. 2 bar­rel-aged rum (like Cruzan Sin­gle Bar­rel). Top with a gen­er­ous pat of but­ter. Gar­nish with a cin­na­mon stick or two and en­joy!
