Heavenly protection

When Woman’s World reader Carol Kalmes of Onalaska, Wisconsin, was worried about her daughter making a road trip alone, a divine reassurance calmed her fears. She writes:

-

My dad was a quiet man and always calm in the middle of a storm. As a child, I would bring my troubles to him, sit in his lap and let my worries fade away into his strong embrace.

I lost Dad the day after his 88th birthday. But over the years, Dad has visited me in my dreams, always with a smile on his face. If I am stressed, he is there. If I’m feeling lonely, he will hug me in my dreams. He just seems to know when I need him.

My daughter inherited her grandfather’s calm demeanor. As a little girl, she took my spot in my father’s lap, and it warmed my heart to see her in his strong arms. My daughter also has a love for adventure, and at age 24, she decided to drive from Colorado through the Alaskan wilderness—alone.

She was an experienced traveler and had planned every detail of this trip. Still, knowing she would be traveling alone had me very worried.

A week before she was to leave, Dad again came to me in a dream. “Don’t worry, she’ll be fine,” he said. I looked into his gentle eyes as he smiled and promised, “I’ll watch over her.”

A calmness instantly swept over me and I fell into a sound, peaceful sleep.

The following week, my daughter left for her trip. Every time I felt afraid, I remembered my dad’s calming words, and I knew she was okay. A week later, she arrived safely in Alaska, just as my dad had promised.

I talked with her later and mentioned the dream I had. She replied, “I was really nervous camping by myself one night and didn’t know how I found the strength to do it.” Then after a long pause she said, “It must have been Grandpa in the tent with me, giving me confidence and calming my fears. I love that I can still count on him.”

I smiled, knowing we can both still count on him to protect and comfort us.

“He kept my daughter safe as she traveled!”
