Say “I love you” with a beautiful buffet

Your nearest and dearest can enjoy a leisurely brunch at their own pace with a help-yourself buffet filled with delicious storebought pastries. Event pro Valerie Gimre ( Etsy.com/shop/ Charmingtouchparties) created the table by layering a hot-pink runner over a white tablecloth. “Using bright, feminine hues adds a pop of color symbolic of flowers in bloom this time of year, and adding in plenty of white allows the vibrant colors to pop,” says Gimre. The finishing touch? A “Mom” garland made by printing letters on a craft-store paper pennant banner.

Add a flickering focal point

To make gorgeous use of any broken flowers, turn them into a wreath to adorn a glass candle holder. To do: Wrap a rubber band around a candle holder or juice glass. Tuck flowers under the band until covered, fill the glass with water and add a few floating candles.

Fancy up place settings with floral touches

A colorful place setting perks up a plain tablecloth— but you don’t have to go to the store for new dishes and linens. Instead, let a handful of blooms and a bright napkin brighten up basic white plates. To create this thoughtful touch, simply roll a dinner napkin into a cone shape and wrap the bottom with a doily or lace fabric scrap. Secure with a pretty ribbon, then fill the opening with a trio of fresh flowers and snippets of baby’s breath (or your favorite floral filler). Rest one cone atop each plate.

Gift guests petite bouquets

Inexpensive mugs from the dollar store make the perfect easy-to-hold vessel for a blooming favor they’ll enjoy long after the party. To get the look of these mini mugs created by Gimre, gather a few blooms into a bouquet, tie with ribbon or raffia and pop into the mug. Finish with a message of love written on a scrapbook paper square and taped to a skewer.

Wow with donuts

To make an edible “topiary” like this one from Chris Nease (Celebrations Athomeblog.com), wrap a foam cone with wax paper, skewer donut holes with toothpicks and insert into the cone; tuck in blooms for color.

Set out a Mom- osa bar

The drink of the day is bubbly and sweet— just like Mom! “Mimosa bars are an easy way to allow guests to enjoy a drink prepared exactly how they like it,” says Lindsey Rubino (Etsy.com/shop/ Seapaperdesigns), who created these Mimosa Bar Tags. Just set out a variety of fresh juices, sparkling wine and fruit garnishes.
