Surrounded by divine love

My heart broke when my sister called with news that our mother had suffered a massive stroke. I immediately set out from my home in Kansas City and headed to St. Louis.

I arrived at the hospital at midnight. Mom was still unconscious. I sat with her all night, telling her that we loved her and were praying that God would watch over her.

The next morning, Mom regained consciousness, but her whole left side was paralyzed. I was trying to ease her fear, when suddenly, she looked at the door and said, “Hello, Jesus and angels! Come on in.”

I turned and saw Jesus standing with His arms outstretched and four angels, two on each side of the bed. I watched in stunned silence as they picked Mom up and placed her in Jesus’ arms. He’s going to take her to Heaven, I realized.

But we were waiting for my younger brother to fly in from California, so I said to Jesus, “You can’t take her yet! Not until my brother gets here!”

Jesus turned and looked at me with the most beautiful look on His face and touched my mom on the left side. Then He and the angels left. After they’d gone, Mom realized she was no longer paralyzed. She lived 11 days longer, and my brother was able to make it in time to say goodbye.

Three months later, my husband had become unemployed, and I was praying one morning when I decided to ask Jesus why He allowed me to see Him and the angels in Mom’s room. He spoke to me

“Angels were picking my mom up and putting her into Jesus’ arms!”

and said, “So you can see that I have everything in My hands. My angels are telling you to trust Me.” He also told me that my husband would get a job the next day— and he did!

I grew up in church and have always believed in angels and loved the Bible story pictures of Jesus and angels. But seeing them in person was the most beautiful experience I’ve ever had. I am sure my mother felt just as blessed.
