1 FOR A CLASSIC LOOK

“I love the unexpected ways American flags are displayed in this entry— it makes a classic yet striking statement,” notes designer Jennifer Hadfield, who shares DIY and craft tips on her decor blog Tatertotsandjello.com. Here, two flag “panels” (like the 50 Star Pull Down, $ 49, Grandinroad.com) and classic swags frame the door and complement the pretty boxwood wreath. The flair that anchors the display: a pair of wooden stands filled with mini flags from the craft store.

2 FOR A FUN-MEETS-FANCY LOOK

All it takes to create this sweet, celebratory front-porch vignette is some red, white and blue craft-store staples and a few repurposed holiday decorations! To do: Start by weaving red, white and blue string lights through a white Christmas garland and hang it around the front door. Next, affix festive bows to the top corners of the garland. To finish, add a wreath (made by hotgluing red, white and blue ornaments to a large foam circle) and a few patriotic touches.

3 FOR A BRIGHT AND MODERN LOOK

“My friends and family loved this patriotic porch, and it was so easy to set up,” says Hadfield. “I added bright splashes of red and blue to create a nice contrast against our teal door.” To get the look, hang a galvanized wreath on the door and tuck florals, ribbons and flags into the center. For modern texture, flank the door with shiny planters and lanterns. Place a gingham rug in front of the door, then hang a gingham banner at the top to draw the eye from bottom to top. Pop craftstore flags and other red, white and blue accents in any empty spots.
