End your day by taking in a beautiful sunset—it will not only leave you feeling relaxed, it’ll also open your heart. That’s the word from researchers at the University of California at Berkeley. When they asked 128 people to view nature images before playing a game that allowed them to be generous or stingy about the points they gave away to other players, people who viewed more beautiful images gave away the most points. It seems looking at something beautiful in nature, such as a sunset, elicits positive emotions that make us more empathetic and agreeable.
