Banish bacne with turmeric

“Anti-inflammatory and antibacterial turmeric clears poreclogging impurities and calms blemish-related redness,” says Malina Yeager, natural beauty expert and founder of Saint Hil Organic haircare. Adding honey (a humectant) and lemon juice (its citric acid exfoliates) speeds results.

■ TRY IT! Mix 2 tsp. of turmeric powder, 1 tsp. of honey and 1 tsp. of lemon juice. Dot onto breakouts; rinse after 5 minutes.

Fade age spots with licorice root

Unique compounds in licorice root break down melanin (skin’s pigment) to erase brown spots, while its antioxidants protect skin from UV rays to prevent new ones from forming. Pair with Greek yogurt (it sloughs off dead, discolored skin cells) for brighter, more even-toned skin.

■ TRY IT! Mix 3 drops of licorice root extract (like Herb Pharm Licorice Extract, $12, Luckyvitamin.com) and 1 Tbs. of plain Greek yogurt. Rub onto spots; rinse after 15 minutes.

Plump locks with mint

Peppermint’s menthol boosts scalp circulation to deliver grow then couraging nutrients to follicles, says Yeager. Studies show that when used in oil form, the minty herb can help hair grow in twice as fast. Use with shine-inducing olive oil—its light-reflecting luster gives the illusion of thicker hair, stat.

■ TRY IT! Mix 1 Tbs. of olive oil and 6 drops of peppermint oil. Apply to damp hair and let sit for 20 minutes, then rinse.

Smooth wrinkles with sage

Rich in collagen-boosting, skinfirming vitamin A, sage diminishes fine lines and wrinkles. Plus, its ursolic acid increases cell turnover to help skin look more youthful. Mix with coconut milk (its protein tightens skin) and oatmeal (it moisturizes) for instant radiance.

■ TRY IT! Combine 1 tsp. of chopped sage, 1⁄ Tbs. of 2 coconut milk and 1⁄ Tbs. 2 of oatmeal. Massage onto creases and let sit for 15 minutes, then rinse.

Calm rosacea with chamomile

The tea’s anti-inflammatory properties soothe irritation caused by the ruddy skin condition, while its flavonoids help constrict blood vessels to reduce redness.

■ TRY IT! Steep 2 chamomile tea bags in 2 cups of boiling water; let cool. Saturate a washcloth in the cold tea; wring out excess liquid. Place on the face for 5 minutes; rinse.
