Spark creativity!
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 NATIONAL SWAP IDEAS DAY
The key to a great brainstorming session, say researchers in the journal Social Psychological & Personality Science: Stand up! When they asked teams to work together on a project, those who stood up while brainstorming exchanged thoughts more freely and produced a more creative finished product than those who sat. Study author Andrew Knight, PH.D., says standing up makes us feel less territorial, more alert and more open to sharing ideas, all of which improves brainstorming. Also smart: Take your idea session outside—walking has been shown to foster more creative thinking.
