Heavenly protection

When Woman’s World reader Patricia Fifield hit black ice while driving on a highway, angels kept her safe. She writes:

-

One winter morning as I gazed out my window, the rising sun caused the light dusting of snow to sparkle like tiny diamonds on the ground and in the trees. It was such a pretty day, so after checking the weather report, I decided to go visit friends a little over an hour away.

But as I got onto the highway, the skies ahead were dark, and I suddenly found myself driving on black ice and in the middle of whiteouts. I could feel my van starting to slide. I gripped the wheel tightly only to realize I was starting to spin. My hands came off the steering wheel as the van spun three or four times and began careening across the highway toward the median. The median was the shallow ditch-type, but there was enough force behind the spins to propel me over it into the oncoming traffic.

During the spins, as I saw the vehicles coming toward me, I thought my life would be over. Please, God, help me!

I prayed, desperately.

Just then, my van suddenly slowed and slid back toward the median, where it came to rest in the ditch. As I slowly allowed myself to take a breath, I saw a truck pull onto the shoulder opposite of where I was.

The driver got out and rushed to me. After a brief check on me and my van, he told me that help was on the way. There was something in his steely blue eyes that made me feel as if everything was going to be okay. As he got back into his truck, a transport truck barreled past and blocked my view of him for a few seconds. When I looked back up, the man and his truck were gone. There was no way he could have had time to pull onto the highway. It was as if he had just disappeared.

The police arrived within minutes, answering a “special request” call, they told me. I kept envisioning those eyes of my Good Samaritan angel, while the tow truck pulled me out. And it came to me: I am sure those striking eyes were my dad’s. He had died 15 years earlier, but I know he had taken control of the wheel and ensured that I was safe.

“There was something in his steely blue eyes that made me feel as if everything was going to be okay!”
