The compliment women love to receive most, according to a survey by U.K. retailer JD Williams: “You look happy.” Etiquette expert Elaine Swann (Elaineswann.com) notes, “Every human being strives to find joy in their lives. And when someone recognizes that you found it, then hands that to you in the form of a compliment, it’s more readily accepted because it’s something you’re striving for.” No matter what you compliment someone on today, Swann suggests maintaining eye contact to show that you’re sincere.
