“HER THOUGHTFUL GIFT HELPS US STAY CONNECTED!” I live in the Northeast, where winters can

be long and dreary. Some friends and I have been getting together for weekly lunches in a local park. We each sit at our own picnic table. When we aren’t eating, we wear masks and maintain social distance. As last winter progressed, there were days when we became so cold that it was hard to stay outside. One afternoon, one of our friends surprised us by bringing each of us a “Hot Seat” pillow to sit on. It made a big difference! We really appreciate her thoughtful gift. It helps us stay connected during this lonely time! — Mary Anne Knapp, Spring Mills, PA

“IT MADE US FEEL GREAT TO HELP OUT!” My husband and I have friends who are 78

and 80 years old. We knew they weren’t feeling well, so one evening, my husband called to check up on them and we found out that they both had COVID-19. The husband was in the hospital, and the wife was home alone. I decided to take her some essential items. I put together bags of food, baked goods, a few copies of Woman’s World, Clorox wipes, hand wipes and several other gifts. I called her to tell her we were coming, then I hung the bags on her front screen door handle and rang the doorbell. She was so glad, and it made us feel great to help out! — Marianne Guidash, Punxsutawney, PA

“HIS SIMPLE GESTURE TRULY WARMED MY HEART!” While on a work trip, I found myself close to where my grandmother was buried.

As I had never visited her grave, I made the detour to the cemetery, but once I got there, I realized I didn’t know where her grave was. After driving around for a few minutes, I located some cemetery workers and asked if they could help me. They took time out of their day to find the supervisor, who looked up my grandmother’s grave and led me to it. He then knelt down and brushed the dirt off her tombstone. That simple gesture warmed my heart and made me feel that even though I can’t visit regularly, she was being taken care of. — Raine Shakti, University Heights, OH
