When it comes to cheddar cheese fries, simple is best, says Robert Pesch, corporate executive chef at the Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, a restaurant chain known for their cheese fries. All you need is cheese, fresh-cooked fries, a great dipping sauce (he recommends buttermilk ranch) and bacon!

The secret to delicious: Opt for a “young” or mild cheddar instead of an aged or sharp one, says Pesch. “If you use a cheese that’s aged for a long time, you lose the creaminess you want on fries.”
