A mother’s love never ends

-

When Woman’s World reader Sharon Hales was going through a hard time, her mother sent her comfort from Heaven. She writes:

My mother passed away suddenly 25 years ago. Through all these years, I miss her just as much as the day she left. There has been so much I wanted to share with her through the years—good and bad. She had a way to make me smile, even just simply chatting on the phone.

My life started to become very stressful in the last few years. My company was undergoing a big transition, much of the background work had to be done discreetly and fell solely to me. In addition, my brother had passed, and we were trying to rehab his house to make it sellable and maneuver probate as he left no will. Needless to say, I was exhausted, depressed, overwhelmed and very much in need of my mom’s caring ear and input.

When I was first married, my mother had given me a picture of an angel watching over a little boy and girl crossing a bridge, On the back, she had written this prayer: O Angel of God, My guardian dear, By whom God’s love commits me here, Ever this day be at my side, To light, to love, to rule and guide.

The picture hangs at the top

of my steps, and I started silently saying this prayer to myself as I headed up to bed each night. It brought me some sense of peace and hope.

Like my mom, I donate to a lot of charities, many of which send some sort of “token gift.” One day, I opened one expecting the typical notepad or address labels, but instead out slid a small cutout of that same angel watching over the two children crossing a bridge. Tears filled my eyes.

It was a sign that Mom had heard my prayers, and she was letting me know she was still with me. I’ve since made it through that stressful period, but I carry that cutout in my phone case as a reminder that Mom is watching over me.

“I was in need of my mom’s caring ear and input!”
