Kent leads Northmen to win

NORTH SMITHFIELD — Senior 1,000-point scorer Sam Kent scored a game-high 32 points and made four of her five free throws, while point guard Lorenza O’Donnell chipped in with four to lead the North Smithfield girls basketball team to a 54-43 victory over visiting Toll Gate Thursday.

The Northmen, who led by 10 at halftime, won the game because of their defense, according to coach Ariana Stanton.

“We played very well tonight,” Stnaton said. “We’ve got everyone involved and we won this game because we never gave in and continued to play hard.”
