1952Mike Webb hit the day’s individual high with 26 points as BVG&E romped past Sayles Finishing “B” 74-46 in a Pawtucket Industrial Hoop League tilt at the Boys’ Club gym. In other Indy Cage Loop action, Tom Whipple canned 23 points to lead Sayles Finishing “A” to an easy 71-42 triumph over Newman-Crosby. Frank Melucci and Carl Mullen combined for 41 points as Moore Fabric defeated Fiberglas 6148.
1962Boasting the best defensive record in the state, Tolman defeated Mount St. Charles 50-41 in their Class A Suburban Division encounter. Al Nixon took game-high honors with 16 points, Vic Ventura canned 14 and high-scoring 6-foot-6 sophomore Don Suggs was limited to 10 points due to foul trouble for coach Ted McConnon’s Tigers. Jerry Smith with 15 and Roger LaPlante with 13 were the only consistent scorers for the Hilltoppers.
1972Defending champion Blackstone Valley Electric and New England Telephone both won their final league games in the Pawtucket Boys’ Club Industrial League and finished in a first place deadlock, each with 6-2 records. BVE turned back Corning Glass 91-52 with Mike Reeder firing in 20 points and Newman Carr 18 for the victors. NET beat Lebanon Knitting 89-79 as Frank Smith (25), Frank Reavey (23) and Will Bloodworth (20) combined for 68 points.
