PROV­I­DENCE — The Woonsocket boys vol­ley­ball team picked up the big­gest vic­tory of its in­au­gu­ral sea­son with 17-25, 25-22, 25-22, 1825, 15-9 vic­tory Wed­nes­day even­ing over a Clas­si­cal team that reached the Divi­sion II semi­fi­nals last sea­son.

Se­nior out­side hit­ter Roger Bis­son­nette had a team-high 14 kills to go along with two aces and three digs, while fel­low se­nior out­side hit­ter Ibraim San­tos-Her­nan­dez had a team-high 10 digs along with seven kills, an ace and a block.

The No­vans also re­ceived solid con­tri­bu­tions from its mid­dle hit­ters, as Henry Ca­ma­cho (seven kills and a team-high six blocks) and Ja­cob Har­ris (three kills, three blocks, four digs and an ace) con­trolled the net.

“We didn’t give points away by mak­ing er­rors and we made them earn their points,” Woonsocket coach Ruth Plante said. “All the kids did a good job block­ing, which forced them to tip. The kids just be­lieved in them­selves and showed men­tal tough­ness.”

Woonsocket (4-10) saw the com­bi­na­tion of de­fen­sive spe­cial­ists Steven Rogers and Juan Rosado pro­duce 11 digs along with 19 serves with­out an er­ror.

The No­vans host Mt. Pleas­ant to­day at 4:30.
