Area students earn Rev. William Blackstone Scholarships
PAWTUCKET — The first annual Rev. William Blackstone Community Service Scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded to 17 area Blackstone Valley students this Saturday, May 19, at noon at the China Inn, 285 Main St., Pawtucket.
The scholarships are sponsored by the Luke Charitable Foundation, the International Leadership Foundation, and the Rhode Island Association of Chinese Americans.
The recipients were chosen based on outstanding community service and academic achievement. Schools represented include William E. Tolman High School, Charles E. Shea Senior High School, Jacqueline M. Walsh School for the Arts, Blackstone Academy Charter School, Central Falls High School, Cumberland High School, Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral High School, Beacon Charter High School for the Arts and the William Davies Technical School.
Five additional scholarships will also be awarded to students from Moses Brown, Classical High School and East Greenwich High School from the Rhode Island Association of Chinese Americans.
