1961 John Courtney fired a no-hitter, struck out 14, walked three and helped his own cause with a solo home run to pace Carter Rice to a 4-0 whitewash over the Fraternal Order of Police in a Darlington American Little League encounter. Eddie Alker ripped a two-run double and Kevin Galvin chipped in with a single to account for the victor’s other hits. Pitchers Dick McLaughlin, Gary Connors and Joe Scallin gave up 11 walks between them while allowing only three hits for FOP.
1971 Senior Bob Palagi blasted a long home run with one out in the bottom of the 11th inning to give Tolman a 3-2 triumph over Woonsocket in a non-league marathon at the McCoy Stadium Annex. John Noonan went the first eight innings yielding only a Tom Zielinski one-out single in the bottom of the sixth, fanned nine and walked 11 with Phil Rynasiewicz gaining the win with three hitless frames. Palagi finished with three hits and Bill Britt and Bob Messier chipped in with a double and single apiece to pace the Tigers’ 10-hit attack.
1991 Nicole Lehoullier allowed just six hits and aided her own cause with two safeties, including a fourth inning RBI triple, as Lincoln turned back one of its closest rivals, South Kingstown, 3-0, to up its Class B-One record to 12-2. Pam Hall, who is batting over .400 this season, added a run-scoring single in the first inning plating Kia Malouin. In Class C slow pitch action, Mirsa Vasquez drilled four hits, including two circuit clouts and eight RBI, Sandy Paiva laced three hits and Michelle Rawson, Barbara Wood and Erin Corrigan each had two hits to pace Central Falls to an 18-3 rout of Mt. Pleasant.
