Welcome Summer Family BBQ to support military families

WOONSOCKET — Thanks To Yanks, a non-profit, all-volunteer organization whose mission is to provide support and resources to military members, veterans and their families, will host a Welcome Summer Family BBQ. The event is planned for Saturday, June 23, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at American Legion Fairmount Post 85, 870 River St., Woonsocket. Tickets are $5 per person, or, bring an item for currently deployed troops’ care packages, such as: protein bars, beef jerky, new/current magazines, two-ply toilet paper, sunscreen, shaving cream (non-aerosol) and/or fly-paper. Admission includes hot dogs, burgers, chips, DJ and games. Cash bar and raffles throughout the day. This event is open to the general public, veterans and military families and will be held rain or shine. Tickets are available at the event; no reservations needed. Thanks To Yanks provides resources, connects the community with programs and identifies gaps in service to maximize support of our military and veterans.
