Medals galore for local dancers

Dance Creations, Inc. students impressive at 4 regionals

WOONSOCKET — Students from Dance Creations, Inc., 59 Circle St., directed by Dawn R. Masse-Gariepy, recently competed in four regional dance competitio­ns.

The Dare To Dream Competitio­n Troupe recently participat­ed in the Nexstar National Talent Competitio­n, held in Providence; Legacy Dance Championsh­ips; Dance Xplosion; and Star Struck Dance Competitio­n, all held in Woonsocket.

At Nexstar National Talent Competitio­n, platinum medals were awarded to Molly Berard, tap solo, “Speaking In Tongues;” Ashlyn Lambert, tap solo, “Faith;” and Aubrey Ranucci, lyrical solo, “Colors of the Wind.”

The high gold medalists were Molly Berard, contempora­ry solo, “Skeletons;” Avery Brazenor, jazz solo, “Brave;” Cassidy Choquette, tap solo, “Torn;” Lynnette Choquette, lyrical solo, “Rise Up;” Shivani Lima, lyrical solo, “Circle of Life;” Kaitlyn Regan, lyrical solo, “I Was Here;” Joyce Rodriguez, lyrical solo, “Who You Are;” Erin Bessette and Kendra Hysko, jazz duet, “Pink Panther;” Avery Brazenor and Julia Raymond, lyrical duet, “Happiness;” Cassidy Choquette and Lynnette Choquette, jazz duet, “Pretty Hurts;” Lynnette Choquette and Shivani Lima, open duet, “Emily.”

First place recipients for solos in their respective divisions were Molly Berard, Avery Brazenor, Cassidy Choquette, Ashlyn Lambert, Shivani Lima and Joyce Rodriguez. First place recipients for duets in their respective divisions were Erin Bessette and Kendra Hysko, Cassidy Choquette and Lynnette Choquette, Lynnette Choquette and Shivani Lima.

Lynnette Choquette received a special judges award – “The Rising Star” – for her excellence in performing “Rise Up.”

The overall high score solo awards were given in their respective age categories to Ashlyn Lambert, first place overall high score. Ashlyn was one of 27 solos in her category. Joyce Rodriguez, first place overall high score; Aubrey Ranucci, fifth place overall high score; Shivani Lima, sixth place overall high score; Cassidy Choquette, ninth place overall high score. The overall high score duet awards were given in their respective age categories to Erin Bessette and Kendra Hysko, first place overall high score; Avery Brazenor and Julia Raymond, third place overall high score; Lynnette Choquette and Shivani Lima, third place overall high score.

At Legacy Dance Championsh­ips, the Platinum medal recipient were Ashlyn Lambert, tap solo, “Faith” and Aubrey Ranucci, lyrical solo, “Colors of the Wind.”

The elite gold recipients were Avery Brazenor, jazz solo, “Brave;” Cassidy Choquette, tap solo, “Torn;” Lynnette Choquette, lyrical solo, “Rise Up;” Shivani Lima, lyrical solo, “Circle of Life;” Kaitlyn Regan, lyrical solo, “I Was Here;” Joyce Rodriguez, lyrical solo, “Who You Are;” Erin Bessette and Kendra Hysko, jazz duet, “Pink Panther;” Avery Brazenor and Julia Raymond, lyrical duet, “Happiness;” Lynnette Choquette and Cassidy Choquette, jazz duet, “Pretty Hurts;” Lynnette Choquette and Shivani Lima, open duet, “Emily;” Meghan Jarret, Ainsley Keating and Hannah Plamondon, lyrical trio, “She Used To Be Mine.”

A special judges’ award was given to Avery Brazenor and Julia Raymond for their ‘beautiful smiles’ while performing their duet, “Happiness.”

The overall high score solo awards were given in their respective age categories to Aubrey Ranucci, lyrical solo, first place; Joyce Rodriguez, lyrical solo, first place; Ashlyn Lambert, tap solo, third place; Cassidy Choquette, tap solo, seventh place. The overall high score duet awards were given in their respective age categories to Erin Bessette and Kendra Hysko, jazz duet, second place; Lynnette Choquette and Shivani Lima, open duet, third place; Avery Brazenor and Julia Raymond, lyrical duet, fourth place; Meghan Jarret, Ainsley Keating and Hannah Plamondon, lyrical solo, first place.

At the Dance Xplosion Competitio­n, the Elite Platinum Award recipient was: Molly Berard, tap solo, “Speaking In Tongues.”

At the Star Struck Competitio­n, the Superior award recipient was: Molly Berard, tap solo, “Speaking In Tongues.”

A special judges’ award was given to Molly Berard for “Divine Rhythm” in her tap performanc­e, “Speaking In Tongues.”
