George Laplume Sr.

WOONSOCKET — George Laplume Sr. 74, of Elder Ballou Meeting House Road, died Aug. 10, 2018 at Philip Hulitar Center. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Emilien and Cecilia (Cote) Laplume. George worked as a constructi­on foreman for many years. He retired from the Woonsocket Housing Authority after eighteen years. George served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was an avid golfer and a member of the New England Country Club. He attended the East Coast Aeronautic­al School and became a certified aircraft mechanic.

George is survived by Peggy Laplume, his son George Laplume and his wife Elisa of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; three brothers, Robert Laplume of Walpole, Mass; Ronald Laplume of Manteca, Calif. and Eugene Laplume of Seneca, S.C.; a sister Constance Mulcahy of Holliston, Mass. and two grandchild­ren Jacob and Jordan Laplume.

His funeral will be held Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Road, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrecti­on Cemetery in Cumberland.
