George Laplume Sr.

WOONSOCKET — George Laplume Sr. 74, of Elder Ballou Meeting House Road, died Aug. 10, 2018 at Philip Hulitar Center. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Emilien and Cecilia (Cote) Laplume. George worked as a construction foreman for many years. He retired from the Woonsocket Housing Authority after eighteen years. George served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was an avid golfer and a member of the New England Country Club. He attended the East Coast Aeronautical School and became a certified aircraft mechanic.

George is survived by Peggy Laplume, his son George Laplume and his wife Elisa of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; three brothers, Robert Laplume of Walpole, Mass; Ronald Laplume of Manteca, Calif. and Eugene Laplume of Seneca, S.C.; a sister Constance Mulcahy of Holliston, Mass. and two grandchildren Jacob and Jordan Laplume.

His funeral will be held Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Road, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland.
