Police: Man tried to rob Blackstone Subway
BLACKSTONE – Police are asking the public for help in identifying a man who attempted to rob a clerk at the Subway in the Park ‘n’ Shop plaza Wednesday.
At about 5:30 p.m., a white male wearing a dark sweatshirt, a dust mask and safety goggles walked into the sandwich shop and passed a note to the clerk demanding money.
Police described the device covering the suspect’s face as a “dual filter dust/ respirator mask.” The safety goggles were “Oakley style” clear plastic safety goggles, the Blackstone Police Department said in a statement. The suspect was also wearing a dark blue jacket with the Carhartt logo.
Upon seeing the suspect and receiving the note, the clerk became frightened and ran off. At that point, the suspect also fled.
The suspect is believed to
have driven away in an early 2000s-model Volvo, possibly white or silver.
Anyone who has information that might help police identify the suspect in the attempted robbery is urged to contact Detective Travis Loether.
