Veterans Day to be observed in city
WOONSOCKET – The city of Woonsocket will observe the Veterans Day holiday with an outdoor salute at the United Veterans Council Armed Forces Park on Davison Street on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m..
“Please join me this Sunday as we honor our veterans for their supreme sacrifices they gave while protecting our freedom,” said Mayor Baldelli-Hunt.
Local elected officials, veterans organizations and honor guards from the Woonsocket Police and Fire Departments will participate in this event. Parking for the event is available in the lots adjacent to the entrance of the Blackstone River Bikeway & Rivers Edge Sports Complex.
Immediately following the observance at the UVC Park, the ceremony will move to the Private Andrew F. Young Memorial Square located in Market Square at the intersection of Main and Arnold Streets where the City will be unveil one of eleven commemorative signs honoring our local World War I veterans. During this event, the UVC will recite their names and announce the additional citywide squares dedicated to these residents.
In recognition of Veterans Day, the Museum of Work & Culture, located at 42 South Main Street, will be open 1-5 p.m. Free admission will be offered to Veterans who wish to tour the Museum.
