R.I. Phil­har­monic Star Wars con­cert tick­ets go on sale

PROV­I­DENCE— The Rhode Is­land Phil­har­monic Or­ches­tra will present “Star Wars: A New Hope in Con­cert,” fea­tur­ing a screen­ing of the com­plete 1977 film with Os­car-win­ning com­poser John Wil­liams’ mu­si­cal score per­formed live to the film. The film and con­cert will be led by ac­claimed con­duc­tor Lu­cas Rich­man on Satur­day, March 9, at 8 p.m. at the Prov­i­dence Per­form­ing Arts Cen­ter.

Tick­ets for “Star Wars: A New Hope in Con­cert” go on sale to­day at 10 a.m. via PPACRI.ORG, (401)421ARTS (2787), or at the Prov­i­dence Per­form­ing Arts Cen­ter Box Of­fice at 220 Wey­bos­set Street, Prov­i­dence.

Since the re­lease of the first Star Wars movie over 40 years ago, the Star Wars saga has had a seis­mic im­pact on both cin­ema and cul­ture, in­spir­ing au­di­ences around the world with its mythic sto­ry­telling, cap­ti­vat­ing char­ac­ters, ground­break­ing spe­cial ef­fects and iconic mu­si­cal scores com­posed by John Wil­liams. Fans will be able to ex­pe­ri­ence the scope and grandeur of this beloved film in a live sym­phonic con­cert event.

Leg­endary com­poser Wil­liams is well known for scor­ing all eight of the Star Wars saga films to date, be­gin­ning with 1977’s “Star Wars: A New Hope,” for which he earned an Academy Award­for Best Orig­i­nal Score.
