Rhode Is­land Reads meet­ing at RIC Mon­day

PROV­I­DENCE – On Mon­day, Dec. 10, United Way of Rhode Is­land and Rhode Is­land KIDS COUNT will host the Rhode Is­land Reads Part­ner Meet­ing that will be at­tended by Gov. Gina M. Rai­mondo and state and com­mu­nity lead­ers at Rhode Is­land Col­lege.

The meet­ing will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in the Stu­dent Union Ball­room, 600 Mount Pleas­ant Ave.

Rhode Is­land Reads is ded­i­cated to­ward reach­ing a goal of 75 per­cent of third­graders read­ing at grade-level by 2025. At­ten­dees at the Part­ner meet­ing will re­view progress to­ward this shared goal.

A data pre­sen­ta­tion fea- tur­ing the lat­est RICAS re­sults for Grade 3 read­ing will be part of the pro­gram.

Part­ners from across the state will share ideas on im­prov­ing school readi­ness and early learn­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties, re­duc­ing chronic ab­sence, pro­mot­ing sum­mer learn­ing, and ex­pand­ing early lan­guage and lit­er­acy re­sources.
