EARLY-MORNING FLAMES
Woonsocket fire a rescue crews had to respond to 420 Woodland Road in the city for a call of a two-alarm fire shortly after 5 a.m. When firefighters arrived they found fire in the basement of the unoccupied home, which was empty because of renovations. The flames spread to the first floor and had to be fought from the exterior after the flames0 burned through the entire first floor. The season’s extreme cold hampered firefighters’ efforts. Departments from Lincoln, Bellingham, Mass.; Cumberland, Central Falls, Millville, Mass.; and North Smithfield assisted Woonsocket companies. The fire is under investigation and no injuries have been reported.
