Po­lice probe fa­tal Fall River stab­bing

FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — Au­thor­i­ties are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a week­end stab­bing death in Fall River.

Bris­tol Dis­trict At­tor­ney Thomas Quinn in a state­ment Sun­day said po­lice re­sponded to the area of Church and Hall streets at about 11:30 p.m. Satur­day for a mo­tor ve­hi­cle ac­ci­dent. When of­fi­cers ar­rived, they found 39-year-old Joseph Read­ing, of Fall River, in the driver’s seat of the ve­hi­cle bleed­ing and un­re­spon­sive.

He was taken to St. Anne’s Hospi­tal, where he was pro­nounced dead. Po­lice dis­cov­ered he had ear­lier at­tended a gath­er­ing where he was in­volved in an al­ter­ca­tion and in­jured.

No ar­rests have been an­nounced.
