Uber driver charged with assaulting customer

ASHLAND, Mass. (AP) — An Uber driver in Massachuse­tts has been arrested after police allege he sexually assaulted a rider after she refused his offer of money in exchange for sex.

Police in Ashland say they charged 37-year-old Jose Arevalos-Avalos, of Holliston, with indecent assault and battery and attempting to pay for sexual conduct after the incident on Friday afternoon.

Authoritie­s say the woman told police she was getting an Uber ride to work when the driver offered her $100 for sex. Police say Arevalos-Avalos sexually assaulted her with his hand after she refused. Uber employees helped police identify the driver through the woman’s Uber app.
