Tex­tile firms net­work­ing with URI

SOUTH KINGSTOWN (AP) — Tex­tile com­pa­nies are gath­er­ing at the Univer­sity of Rhode Is­land for the first net­work­ing event or­ga­nized by a new in­dus­try group.

The Rhode Is­land Tex­tile In­no­va­tion Net­work was launched in Septem­ber to pro­mote tex­tile man­u­fac­tur­ing in Rhode Is­land.

It worked with URI’s Col­lege of Busi­ness and Busi­ness En­gage­ment Cen­ter to plan a net­work­ing fair, which be­gins at 8:30 a.m. on Mon­day.

The net­work­ing fair aims to con­nect stu­dents and URI fac­ulty with in­dus­try lead­ers.

The event is open to the pub­lic, but seat­ing is lim­ited and reg­is­tra­tion is re­quired.

All four mem­bers of

Rhode Is­land’s con­gres­sional del­e­ga­tion, URI’s pres­i­dent, the state com­merce sec­re­tary plan and more than 20 in­dus­try, higher ed­u­ca­tion and busi­ness groups plan to at­tend.
