PAWTUCKET (AP) — A Rhode Island man who along with two strippers has been charged with stealing a Boston police officer’s gun has been held on $20,000 bail.

Kyle Benford, of Providence, appeared in court Monday on larceny of a firearm and conspiracy charges. He didn’t enter a plea.

Pawtucket police say the 24-year-old Benford conspired with two dancers to steal the weapon Feb. 2, which had been locked in the officer’s car’s glove box.

Police records show Boston Officer Emanuel Brandao told authorities he and the women were “hanging out” at a Pawtucket hotel, and he discovered his gun missing after they left. The gun was found in the mail slot at a Providence fire station.

The women told authorities the officer paid them $2,500 for sex. Benford’s family says he’s being framed.
