Lawmakers seek utility oversight panel

NEWPORT (AP) — Rhode Island lawmakers have filed a bill to create a commission to oversee a study of the state’s natural gas and electricity system following a weeklong natural gas outage.

The Newport Daily News reports the commission would include the president of National Grid and the president of Enbridge, a Canadian company that owns the gas transmission pipeline that supplies natural gas to National Grid.
