Point guard has 2 years of eligibility remaining Bryant decides to redshirt Ndugba

SMITHFIELD — Bryant University men's basketball junior Ikenna Ndugba will redshirt the 2018-19 season due to injury, head coach Jared Grasso announced Monday.

Ndugba, who has missed the first 23 games of the year, will sit out the remainder of the 2018

19 season due to a season-ending shoulder injury and return for the 2019-20 campaign with two years of eligibility remaining.

"Ike and I sat down and decided it would be in his best interest to continue to progress with his rehab program and not rush back this late in the season," said Grasso. "We are and always will be a program that puts our student-athletes first. Ike will continue to help lead his team from the sidelines and we look forward to having him back for two full seasons of great basketball."

Ndugba was Bryant's second-leading scorer a year ago at 13.8 points per game while also leading the Bulldogs in rebounding, assists and steals. He will enter his redshirt-junior year in 2019-20 with 619 career points, 275 assists, 256 rebounds and 99 steals.
