BURRILLVILLE — After allegedly breaking into Chum’s Spirits early Thursday morning, a trio of Rhode Islanders are now on the hook for charges including breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, Burrillville Police said.

Around 2:05 Thursday morning, police on patrol in the area of Pascoag Main Street observed a vehicle driving west with its high beams on. The officer took note of the registration plate and registry data showed that the registration did not match the vehicle, police said.

The officer turned into the parking lot of Chums Spirits Ltd. at 95 Chapel St. in Harrisville, with the intention of turning around to perform a motor vehicle stop. However, upon entering the parking lot, the officer observed a window that was smashed out in the front of the liquor store.

A “BOLO” was then put out for the vehicle and it was subsequently spotted by members of the Glocester Police Department, Burrillville Police said. Glocester Police attempted to stop the vehicle on Route 44, but a pursuit ensued through Glocester into Smithfield, police said. The vehicle eventually crashed on Route 44 at Vaughn Avenue.

After the crash, two men fled on foot, but were apprehended a short time later by members of the Smithfield and Glocester police departments, police said.

The three suspects who were in the vehicle were identified by Burrillville Police as Alan C. Corey, 47, of 80 Summit St. in Pawtucket; Nichole M. McLaughlin, 31, of 160 Broad St. in Providence; and Bryan R. Wieczorek, 42, of 485 Plainfield St. in Providence. They were arrested by members of the Smith- field and Glocester police departments. McLaughlin and Wieczorek were transported to Our Lady of Fatima Hospital for treatment of minor injuries suffered during the crash, police said.

The vehicle they were driving had been reported stolen to the Providence Police Department the day prior, Burrillville Police said.

Corey, McLaughlin and Wieczorek were each charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and conspiracy, police said. McLaughlin was additionally charged with driving on a suspended license – fourth offense.

They were turned over to the custody of the Burrillville Police Department and held pending further investigation and arraignment in Sixth District Court, police said.
