Muslim Lobby Day at Mass. Statehouse

-

BOSTON (AP) — The Massachusetts chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations is planning to host its second annual Muslim Lobby Day at the Statehouse.

The group says the goal of Tuesday’s event is to bring together American Muslims from across the state to meet with lawmakers, discuss issues, and bring about positive social change.

The group says some of its top concerns include investment for equitable education, Medicare for all in Massachusetts, and environmental justice in urban communities.

Activists say other priorities include a bill aimed at blocking state and local police from acting like immigration officers and a moratorium on the use of facial recognition systems.

The group says its mission is to protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
