PROVIDENCE –A pair of area residents were indicted in unrelated matters by the Providence County Grand Jury late last month, the Attorney General’s Office announced last Friday.
The Grand Jury on Aug. 30 returned an indictment charging Michael Haworth, 60, of 177 Kenyon Ave., Apt. 1 in Pawtucket with one count of first-degree sexual assault and one count of second-degree sexual assault.
Haworth was arrested on June 9 and charged with kidnapping and first-degree sexual assault stemming from the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile on the Ten Mile River Greenway’s bike path on June 7, Pawtucket Police have said.
Around 9 p.m. on June 7, Pawtucket Police investigated the report of a sexual assault that occurred in a wooded area off of the Ten Mile River Greenway between the Tomlinson Sports Complex on Daggett Avenue and Armistice Boulevard section of the path, police said. The victim, a 17-year-old girl, provided police with a description of the alleged assailant and that information was distributed in an attempt to identify the suspect, police said.
Haworth is scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 18 in Providence County Superior Court, the AG’s Office said.
